TEXT for SUCCESS
From Brixton to the house of Commons!
Matching people to jobs via text messaging! - another first for the Employment Cafe
House of Commons Launch Attlee Room, Portcullis House 27th February 2003 at 10am
Nationwide launch of the award-winning Employment Café's new "text messaging for jobs" service
Kate Hoey, MP for Vauxhall, will be hosting the launch. Ros Griffiths Founder and Chairman of the Employment Café will be launching the new text messaging service as well as unveiling plans for the next few years.
Come and find out. The service is unique and similar to that of a dating agency except that the aim is to match the people who have vacancies with the people who are looking for jobs and then introduce them to each other through a text message over a mobile phone.
Set up two years ago in Brixton, London, the Employment Café is a unique project in an area with the highest rate of unemployment in London. Like any Internet café, clients can sip coffee and search the web. However, at Employment Café clients can also get careers advice, computer training, and introductions to potential employers and job centres. The success rate has been phenomenal and the project has captured the imagination of not only of the local population but also of employers, the national press and television.
